WELCOME TO MY AUCTION, GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BIDS!A very unusual personalized Prussian nahkamphmesser or close combat trench knife as carried by a German Soldier in WWI.Blade is marked: GESCHUTZT PRUSSIAThe Prussia mark dates the knife to 1918 or earlier manufacture.Cannot make out the makers name on the top line. There are maker marks of a blacksmith or bladesmith at an anvil on both sides of inscription which I have never seen before.Maybe you collectors can identify. The wood grip has had an insert added which looks to me to be a crown or coat of arms from a pickelhaube shield or something similar.Grip also has six notches carved into it which generally indicates the owner credited himself with six usages or "kills" with the knife, most likely in the trenches during World War One.Scabbard it came in has a faint oval shaped logo, and it has been repaired at the tip at some time.Knife is in used condition and shows wear and pitting to blade and wear to the wood grips. The leather scabbard shows wear and a repair at the tip.An unusual WWI or earlier trench knife, don't miss out!See the photos.
