This appears to be a WWI German trench knife. That is the closest identification that I have found. The knife is 10 5/16" long with a flat-ground clip-point blade which is 5/32" thick at the ricasso and has a distal taper. The spine on the blade is rounded to the begining of the 2 1/4" long clip. The guard is steel. The handles are hardwood, sanded smooth, with no finish and held on to the full tang with three iron rivets. The guard is metal with a spring belt clip and an internal spring which holds the blade firmly. This knife appears nearly unused. There are some fine honeing scratches but no wear, chips, or use scratching. The handle is unblemished. It has some very fine rust. The sheath is painted black and has spots of paint loss totaling about 10% of its surface.
